Practical Nurse

This program prepares the student to become a Practical Nurse - an important member of the healthcare team who works under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist in the many areas of healthcare. Students will learn the role of the PN and how to care for a variety of patients including geriatric, pediatric, oncology, and pre/post-operative patients. Students will learn how to identify patient problems, identify appropriate interventions and evaluate nursing care. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN and become licensed through the Board of Nursing.

  • There are three (3) Prerequisite Courses that are required to be completed prior to being accepted into the Practical Nursing program. These courses are Long Term Care Nurse Aide, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy and Physiology.

    1. Multi-Skilled Healthcare Professional (MSHP)
    A power-packed, financial aid eligible program offering students the opportunity to complete four (4) certifications and be employment-ready in five (5) months.

    Available by various delivery methods including Instructor Lead, Hybrid, and Online. These classes are not financial aid eligible.

    T    he WWTC Practical Nursing program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for practical nurses. Applicants must meet all state and federal requirements to hold an Oklahoma license to practice nursing. In addition to completing a state-approved nursing education program that meets educational requirements and successfully passing the licensure examination, requirements include submission of an application for licensure, a criminal history records search, and evidence of citizenship or qualified alien status [59 O.S. §§ 567.5 & 567.6].     • Any fees associated with the collection of documents that are required by the Board of Nursing will be the responsibility of the student.
